Route Overview

The Lemosho Route is widely regarded as one of the most scenic and rewarding routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. Approaching the mountain from the western side, it offers breathtaking landscapes, excellent acclimatization opportunities, and a high summit success rate.

The route begins in lush montane rainforest before crossing the expansive Shira Plateau, climbing through alpine desert, and joining the Southern Circuit beneath Kilimanjaro’s dramatic glaciers.

Trekkers experience a remarkable variety of ecosystems, from dense rainforest and heathland to alpine desert and the arctic summit zone. The route follows the acclimatization principle of “climb high, sleep low,” significantly improving the chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) successfully.
