Route Overview

The Marangu Route, often referred to as the “Coca-Cola Route, is the oldest and one of the most popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that offers overnight accommodation in comfortable mountain huts instead of camping, making it an excellent choice for trekkers seeking added comfort during their climb.

The trail ascends through lush rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and finally the arctic summit zone before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m). The 6-day itinerary includes an additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, significantly improving summit success rates compared to the shorter 5-day option.

Why Choose the Marangu Route?

The Marangu Route is perfect for trekkers who prefer hut accommodation instead of camping while still experiencing the incredible beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro. The extra acclimatization day on this 6-day itinerary provides a safer and more enjoyable climb with a higher chance of reaching the summit.
